Lactobacilli:
Lactobacilli are Gram-positive bacteria and, as their name suggests, they produce lactic acid through the fermentation of sugars, mainly glucose and lactose. Most species of lactobacilli survive in the acidic environment of the stomach and are mainly concentrated in the small intestine, constituting an essential component of the human intestinal microbiome. Lactobacilli support the maintenance of the normal intestinal microflora.
