I bought this particular filter because it is essentially a 4-stage filter.

1) Apart from the fact that the ceramic element has a filtration pore size of 0.2 microns,

2) it is impregnated with antimicrobial silver, which ensures that no bacteria or microorganisms will grow if the water remains stagnant inside the device for days.

3) Inside, it contains the special, patented Aquametix carbon.Aquametix now requires the water to run for at least 5 minutes to clear the filter of any carbon dust etc. that may be inside it, and the water may initially come out black for 4–5 seconds; this is perfectly normal.

As for performance:
Primato sent me all the documentation by email that came with the filter.

Tests:
WQA certification for lead retention
tests carried out by a Greek laboratory to assess performance
tests covering all the substances the filter is capable of reducing .

It is essentially one of the very few filters that, with a single cartridge, removes all of the following
+Lead
+Chromium
+Hexavalent chromium >65% retention (almost no filter removes hexavalent chromium)
+Almost all heavy metals
+Aluminium
+Nitrates
+Ammonia
+Chlorine
+Arsenic
+Fluoride
+Pesticides
+Narcotics and antibiotics if found in the water
+And the list goes on, so please see the documents below via the link.

Usually, you need one cartridge for nitrates, another for arsenic, and so on, so the cost of multiple stages and cartridges with other filters rises considerably. Here, in the case of Aquametix, you can filter everything with a single cartridge, and its price isn’t all that high when you consider what it’s capable of.

And generally speaking, apart from what I’ve mentioned above, it removes nearly 100 different substances.
For more details, see the link I’ll provide below. And it removes almost all of them at a rate of 99 per cent.
It consists of at least two types of high-quality carbon and zeolite. Zeolite, generally in rock form, is capable of filtering out and trapping radioactive isotopes.
A highly effective filter for areas with serious water problems where osmosis is not required, or for people who wish to drink the best possible water.

4) The final stage of filtration is the resin
for reducing and improving salt levels.
The filter works brilliantly, and the company has packaged it exceptionally well, as shown in the picture, to ensure the filter isn’t damaged during transit!
It arrived at my home in two days, even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

If used on its own without a pre-filter, then perhaps after a few months, the flow rate may drop, and you’ll need to open it up and clean the outer surface with a sponge under running water.
The advantage of ceramic filters is that they keep the activated carbon inside free from debris, whilst the filter media remain on the outside and are visible. In contrast, plain carbon filters trap the soil inside, and it is very likely that microorganisms will develop if they are not used as specified by the manufacturer.

CeraMetix® is a replacement filter that purifies water in two stages. The first stage features the patented CeraCyl® and the second stage the equally patented AquaMetix®. CeraCyl® is a ceramic material (similar to porcelain) impregnated with bacteriostatic silver, designed to trap particles smaller than 0.2 μm (the average diameter of a human hair is 100 μm). It can trap bacteria and cysts to provide you with clean and safe water. The silver gives the filter bacteriostatic properties that inhibit cell division and allow it to self-sterilise. As the ceramic filter is quite ‘fine-meshed’, it is to be expected that water flow will decrease over time. When it becomes sufficiently clogged, simply rub it gently under running water with a kitchen sponge (using the soft side). This will remove all the sludge and rust that has accumulated on the outside of the shell and restore the water flow to normal levels. As the filter is quite compact, it allows the water to remain in the AquaMetix® in the second stage for longer, thereby purifying it even more effectively of harmful substances.

Suitable for all OBE SP 10" type units.

  • Nominal pore size 0.2 μm, >99.9% retention. In practical terms, this means that out of 100 particles with a diameter of 0.2 μm attempting to pass through the filter, >99.9 per cent will not succeed.
  • Absolute filtration efficiency at 0.5 μm. This means that out of 100 particles with a diameter of 0.5 μm that attempt to pass through the filter, none will succeed.
  • 100 per cent cyst removal
  • 99.9999% reduction in pathogenic bacteria
  • You can clean the filter with a soft sponge to ensure better water flow and extend its lifespan.
  • Infused with silver, which acts as a bacteriostatic agent and allows the filter to self-sterilise.

Aquametix®, found in the second stage, is a patented combination of two types of activated carbon with zeolite. The zeolites are bonded to the activated carbon using special polymers to create an exceptionally compact and porous water filter. It is manufactured in the USA using raw materials that meet the highest FDA standards, cutting-edge technologies and unrivalled performance.

CeraMetix® is the only composite filter that reduces cysts, pathogens, chlorine, bacteria, microplastics, cryptosporidia, fluorides, lead, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pharmaceutical compounds and drug residues, arsenic, chromium, nitrates, chloramines, herbicides, glyphosate, trihalomethanes, MTBE, aluminium, iron, mercury, nickel, zinc, industrial residues, turbidity and a large number of hazardous substances with a single cartridge.

SVOCs are a cause for concern due to their abundance in the indoor environment and their potential to cause adverse effects on human health. Specifically, the semi-volatile organic compounds analysed were as follows: Acenaphthylene, Anthracene, Benz[a]anthracene, Benzo[b]fluoranthene, Benzo[k]fluoranthene, Benzo[a|pyrene, Benzo[g.h,i]perylene, Butylbenzylphthalate, Carboxin, 2-Chlorobiphenyl, Chrysene, Cycloate, Dacthal (DCPA), Diazinon, Dibenz{a,hjanthracene, Di-n-butyl phthalate, 2,3-dichlorobiphenyl, Diethyl phthalate, Di(2-ethylhexyl)adipate, Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, Dimethyl phthalate, EPTC, Fluorene, 2,2',3,3',4,4',6-Heptachlorobiphenyl, Hexachlorobenzene, 2,2',4,4',5,6'-Hexachlorobiphenyl, Hexachlorocyclohexane, alpha, Hexachlorocyclohexane, beta, Hexachlorocyclohexane, delta, Hexachlorocyclopentadiene, Hexazinone, Indeno[1,2,3,c,d]pyrene, Isophorone, Merphos, Methyl Paraoxon, Norflurazon, 2,2', 3,3', 4,5', 6,6'-Octachlorobiphenyl, Pebulate, 2,2', 3', 4,6'-Pentachlorobiphenyl, Pentachlorophenol, Phenanthrene, cis-Permethrin, trans-Permethrin, Prometon, Prometryn, Pronamide, Propachlor, Propazine, Triademefon, 2,4,5-Trichlorobiphenyl, Tricyclazole, Trifluralin, Vernolate.

Microplastics 99%

Chloramines: 90.3% ENVIROTEK certification based on Standard 42. Some local authorities, rather than using chlorine to disinfect water, use chloramine (a combination of chlorine and ammonia). The reason is that chloramines remain active in water for longer than chlorine. In other words, if drinking water has to travel a long distance before reaching your tap, then chloramine is more suitable than chlorine. It also reduces the combination of chloramine, monochloramine and ammonia.

> 98% THMs (Trihalomethanes). Trihalomethanes (THMs) in water are by-products of chlorination. The most common compounds monitored by water supply authorities are chloroform, bromoform, dibromochloromethane and bromodichloromethane.

Reduction of MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) by 97.6 per cent. ENVIROTEK certification. Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) is a volatile organic compound added to petrol to reduce levels of carbon monoxide and ozone in vehicle emissions. In California, the addition of MTBE has improved air quality by reducing vehicle pollutant emissions by 14 per cent at state level. Unfortunately, however, in recent years methyl tert-butyl ether has also begun to appear in water.

It effectively reduces industrial residues, toxic substances, turbidity, suspended particles, sludge, rust, soil and various other substances harmful to the body.

Reduction of Radionuclides

  • It does not remove minerals and trace elements essential for the body.
  • It significantly improves the taste and smell of the water.
  • It must be replaced at least once a year or every 8,000 litres.

What is activated carbon?

Τί είναι ο ενεργός άνθρακας

The activated carbon used in Aquametix® is a completely natural product that looks like a fine, odourless, tasteless and non-toxic black powder. It can be produced from peat, bamboo, charcoal, wood, sawdust, coconut husks, olive pits and other sources. It is heated in a controlled environment under vacuum to acquire its characteristic porous surface. These microscopic holes, or pores, can increase the surface area of the carbon from 500 to 1,500 m²/g. As a result of this treatment, it is able to adsorb various substances that come into contact with it, whether in liquid or gaseous form, in quantities many times its own weight. One cubic centimetre of activated carbon has the same surface area as 50,000 square metres. Naturally, activated carbon produced from coconut shell is the most eco-friendly and environmentally friendly option! Aquametix® combines two types of activated carbon with zeolite.

How zeolite helps improve water quality

Φίλτρο νερού άνω πάγκου με ζεόλιθο και ενεργό άνθρακα - inox

One of the most valuable natural products, with numerous beneficial properties for both humans and the environment, is the mineral zeolite. The crystalline structure of natural zeolite gives it unique beneficial properties relating to its use in purifying drinking water. Natural zeolite absorbs chlorides, iron and manganese, as well as heavy and toxic metals such as silver, mercury, nickel, chromium, cobalt, antimony, arsenic and cadmium. The ion-exchange properties of zeolite help to remove salts from water, resulting in water softening and the adjustment of its pH to neutral. Zeolite is a 100% natural, insoluble, durable product with antibacterial properties.
