Goat milk

Goat milk
Benefits:NaturalAnimal
One of the oldest beauty ingredients in the world — and one of the few the skin recognises almost as its own.
What is goat milk?
Goat milk is one of the first milks domesticated by humans, ten thousand years ago in the Middle East. It differs from cow’s milk in two ways that matter for the skin: its fat globules are smaller, and a large share of its fatty acids are short- and medium-chain — caprylic, capric, caproic, named precisely after the goat (capra).
What are the benefits of goat milk?
It contains proteins and amino acids, lactic acid — a natural alpha-hydroxy acid — vitamin A, B-group vitamins and selenium. Its pH is close to that of the skin. In skincare it:
- Softens and nourishes (fatty acids)
- Supports the skin’s natural barrier (proteins)
- Gently exfoliates and keeps the epidermis smooth (lactic acid)
- Takes part in cell renewal (vitamin A)
- Is tolerated even by sensitive complexions
Why a creamy lather?
The fats and proteins of milk give soaps and creams a rich, creamy texture and a feeling of softness after rinsing, without the tightness many cleansers leave behind. It is a traditional choice for dry, sensitive and mature skin.
Where does it come from?
The goat was domesticated in the Zagros mountains, in present-day Iran, and Greece is among the countries with the longest tradition of goat farming — goat milk has been part of Mediterranean diet and skincare for millennia.
